You just have to be over 21. Drivers under 25 are liable for a $600 excess and drivers over 25 are liable for a $500 excess.
You must hold a current, open (full) drivers licence, in English. If your licence form another country is not in English, you must be able to present a valid English translation and/or an International Drivers Licence, along with your original licence. For more information about what is acceptable as a translation please see the Terms and Conditions.
You can rent from a minimum of half a day to as long as you like. The rates get better, the longer you go. Just contact us to discuss a deal to suit your time frame.
Airlie Car Rentals offer unlimited kilometres on car rentals.
Airlie Car Rentals are permitted on sealed roads only, with the exception of a few special locations

Some locations may be off limits during wet season, please check with staff for any additional seasonal limitations.
Not at this stage. All car hires must start and finish in Airlie Beach. We do hope to offer one way care hire in the future.
Yes! Just present your valid Island staff ID and you will receive discounted car hire from Airlie Car Rentals with bonuses.

We can’t always guarantee a specific make or model of car as we sometimes have varying models within the same category. All cars are subject to availability. If you are unsatisfied with the car offered on collection, please talk to our friendly staff.
Yes. However it is up to the accompanying adult to fit the seat as Airlie Car Rentals takes no responsibility for the incorrect or unsafe installation of your seat.
We have a 1 hour grace period, after that time you will be charged another full day’s rental. Please contact us if you know you are going to be late.
Of course. Just call our friendly team to discuss what you need to change. 24 hours notice is preferred for any changes.
Current photo ID must be shown to collect the vehicle, including a valid drivers licence.
Yes. We take your credit card details before we give you the keys. When the vehicle is returned in good condition, no charge applies. If you damage the vehicle, you will have to pay the insurance excess applicable for your age group. Drivers under 25 are liable for a $600 excess and drivers over 25 are liable for a $500 excess.
If you do not refuel the car, there is a refueling fee of $20, plus applicable fuel price.
If you return the car not clean and tidy, a cleaning fee of up to $250 may apply.
We highly recommend you take out your own travel insurance to protect you against theft of your personal effects.
If you are found to have been the cause of an accident due to negligence, disobeying the rules of the hire by driving in non-approved areas, or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, then the insurance is null and void, and further charges may apply.
If you incur a parking or traffic infringement notice, this is your responsibility and Airlie Car Rentals will transfer the offence into your name.

All vehicles are comprehensively insured, as long as you adhere to the road rules. You do have to place a bond to hire a vehicle from Airlie Car Rentals. The car insurance does not cover your personal effects. You must take out your own travel insurance to cover your personal belongings as Airlie Car Rentals takes no responsibility for these. If you have an accident you must notify Airlie Car Rentals of the full circumstances of the damage as soon as it is safe to do so (but not more than 24 hours). You must also report it to the police.
All cars are registered with RACQ for roadside assistance. All mechanical breakdowns are covered by Airlie Car Rentals. All non-mechanical breakdowns are subject to the relevant call out fees being charged by the RACQ directly to the Hirer and include but are not limited to the following:
- Out of fuel / incorrect fueling of the Vehicle.
- Wheels and tyres.
- Keys being lost, broken or locked inside the Vehicle.
- Flat batteries.
- A breakdown as a result of damage caused in an accident, including salvage.
You must notify Airlie Car Rentals of the full circumstances of the breakdown or defect as soon as it is safe to do so (but not more than 24 hours) to give Airlie Car Rentals a chance to fix the problem before it escalates. Airlie Car Rentals does not accept liability for any claims submitted after this period.
Yes, but the car remains your responsibility until Airlie Car Rentals can take possession of the vehicle during office hours. Please ensure it is locked up safely.
There are several fuel stations very close to our Airlie Beach drop off location. The nearest is a Coles service station situated at 230 Shute Harbour Road, at Whitsunday Shopping Centre.
You may be able to extend your hire after it has commenced. Please call our friendly office team to discuss an extension.
